In August of 2022 I assumed a full time role as a senior level producer at Halon Entertainment. Halon is a 20-year-old company that has historically been a main industry player for pre visualization for major motion pictures. Recently, it has launched its own Virtual Art Department and pushed into the production of final animation and video game cinematics, leveraging its specialization for Unreal Engine workflows.
At Halon I am a Senior Producer in charge of the production and animation of cinematic trailers and marketing renders for one of our largest clients, Epic Games. I supervise all departments, provide leadership and staff management, guide creative process, team culture and growth, forecast and control budgets, manage contracts and bidding, break down projects and client objectives, supervise shot tracking and task management, and develop and refine standardization and workflow within studio.
At the time of writing this, I’ve worked at Halon for a little over a year. I now report directly to the president of the company. The people and culture here are terrific, yet there is still (and always) room for growth. Perhaps, I am most proud of my own personal growth in leadership and culture building in a senior role at a well established studio. This is always an ongoing life lesson, whether its in a freelance capacity or a staff position. I’ve also had the opportunity to build custom databases to forecast revenue and profit margins, improve our hiring and casting procedures, and drive critical decision making that leads to studio success.
Working parallel with games has been a thrilling experience to combine the creative cultures of both film/tv and video games. They are both alike and unique in their own ways, and I feel as our industry moves deeper into virtual production we will find there are many new standards to write and old traditions will blend with new methods. This is already happening and the evolution is exciting to be a part of.
